Health Innovation Hub

The Health Innovation Hub, established by the University of 91快活林, acts as a dynamic bridge between academia, learning, and industry.

A catalyst for positive change both locally and beyond, the hub brings together researchers, students, healthcare professionals, local authorities, and community and business leaders with the collective aim to accelerate the development and implementation of innovative solutions to some of our biggest healthcare challenges.

Priority areas 2024-2025

The Hub will support the development of community-clinically led services, Allied health professional services, the use of specialist facilities (eg simulation suites, sports and exercise performance equipment etc), school partnerships and co-production PPI (Patient and Public Involvement).

With a focus on five existing and emerging thematic areas: healthy ageing, children and young people, long-term health conditions, sexual and reproductive health, and physical activity.

Developed with input from researchers, industry, the community, and clinical leaders, the activity will focus on:

Skills: training and education

The Hub will provide novel teaching methods, including access to higher education pathways, workforce training, and trialing innovative recruitment methods to close staffing gaps.

Research and knowledge exchange

It will serve as a centre for research, data sharing, and collaboration between various health and community organisations to tackle societal health challenges.

Innovation and testing

The Hub will be a place for testing new health products and services, including virtual care and other technological innovations.

Community services

It will support outreach treatments in areas like podiatry, physiotherapy, and nutrition and offer space for NHS and local authority services to operate.

Collaboration and partnerships

The Hub will promote collaboration through a network that connects academia, the NHS, local authorities, and community organisations. It will also host events and offer a safe space for community services to meet and collaborate.

School partnerships

The Hub will work with schools to promote health education and provide opportunities for students to access health-related training and placements.
